Sometimes KDE crashed, but I could switch to text mode and restart X11 and sometimes the machine froze completely. I installed the new kernel according to comment #5 two days ago and didn't have a single crash since then (I used to have several per day). After the login screen the screen freezes displaying the openSUSE chameleon with progress bar frozen at ~80% but the login sound plays and the computer appears to be running. The problem is that the freezes / crashes are quite random and sometimes don't happen for a week so may not be able to verify immediately if the problem is fixed or not.
