[Bug 208982] New: Translation by wiki, not SVN - faster results
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=208982 Summary: Translation by wiki, not SVN - faster results Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Alpha 4 plus Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: Translations AssignedTo: ke@novell.com ReportedBy: haakon@nhn.no QAContact: ke@novell.com I can log into my openSUSE wiki account from any place on earth using only a browser, but I cannot translate strings while in the wiki - translation requires an svn client. Why? I've already authenticated once. It would be much simpler if translation was done using the wiki as an interface to the POT file. You could offer the original string on the left, the current translation in the middle, and text fields on the right - hit an Update button and that is the current translation. If translators don't have to install and learn anything, only open an account, more people can contribute. Evaluating pootle is on our agenda--but for 10.2 SVN with various access methods is the way we want to go. You can also access the SVN on Novell Forge with the browser using WebDAV--it is mentioned at the end of http://developer.novell.com/wiki/index.php/Suse-i18n-downloads. If you use WebDAV no svn commands are to be learnt. I'd like to discuss all this on the ML, please. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
