[Bug 1234977] New: AMD Internal digital microphone stopped working
https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1234977 Bug ID: 1234977 Summary: AMD Internal digital microphone stopped working Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.6 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound Assignee: tiwai@suse.com Reporter: helen@coldboot.plus.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Target Milestone: --- Found By: --- Blocker: --- Running Leap 15.6 as distributed, apart from the kernel parameter trace_clock=local. Leap 15.6 is up-to-date. Current kernel release is 6.4.0-150600.23.30-default. My machine is a Lenovo Thinkpad E16 Gen 2 (model 21M5) laptop with an AMD Rembrandt Radeon High Definition Audio card. The built in digital microphone was previously not working, but was fixed by the fix for Bug 1228269. However it stopped working on 14Dec2024, and is not working now. By booting from read-only snapshots, I suspect that a System Update which updated the kernel from 6.4.0-150600.23.25-default to 6.4.0-150600.23.30-default stopped it working. I suspect it may have been SUSE-SU-2024:4318-1, but I have not found a good way of relating system updates to the timestamp of snapshots taken. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

So try to boot from the latest state but boot with *-25 kernel, and verify whether it works or not. If yes, please get alsa-info.sh outputs from both working and non-working states. Run the script with --no-upload option and attach to Bugzilla. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

If the kernel in OBS works, the problem must have been already addressed in the latest SLE15-SP6 branch, and the fix will be included in the next update kernel (likely in this month). You can keep this kernel or keep using the previous working kernel until the next update kernel appears. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
