https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=466892 Summary: Nvidia module fails to load. Installed via RPM. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: RC 2 Platform: 32bit OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 3rd Party Driver AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: slinger@arlut.utexas.edu QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=265731) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=265731) nvidia bug report User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.4) Gecko/2008111319 Ubuntu/8.10 (intrepid) Firefox/3.0.5 I am unable to modprobe the Nvidia driver if it is installed through an RPM. Using the repository located at ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/11.1/i586/ yields the issue. The driver that is being used is the 180.22 driver with and Nvidia Quadro FX 3700M. If the driver is installed from the Nvidia installer, everything works fine. I am including the output of the nvidia bug report script. The most prominent error in regards to this problem is the following: NVRM: The NVIDIA probe routine was not called for 1 device(s). NVRM: This can occur when a driver such as rivafb, nvidiafb or NVRM: rivatv was loaded and obtained ownership of the NVIDIA NVRM: device(s). NVRM: Try unloading the rivafb, nvidiafb or rivatv kernel module NVRM: (and/or reconfigure your kernel without rivafb/nvidiafb NVRM: support), then try loading the NVIDIA kernel module again. NVRM: No NVIDIA graphics adapter probed! Another secret device, which isn't mentioned in NVIDIA's README, but apparently working with the driver. :-( Fixed for next NVIDIA driver update. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
