I can activate either one from Network Manager. ONLY the wifi shows up as an active connection, and turns the desktop to online status when a link is made. The modem which is turned on by Network Manager, and ported through Kinternet, makes a perfect connection, but Network manager fails to show it as an up and running connection. There are no stats or anything for the modem on Network Manager. Network Manager therefore shows the desktop status as "Offline", when I do indeed have an active dialup connection. I need the connection to show up as "Online", so I can use my IM and RSS feed while on dialup. Is there any way to go into terminal to over-ride Network Manager and issue a command that will show the desktop as online so I can use my IM and RSS? Then when I am finished, issue another command in terminal to set the desktop status back offline. A workaround would be great. Basically, NetworkManager does not support dialup connections.
