Best chances for you to get this fixed is probably to report this upstream at bugzilla.freedesktop.org.
Thanks for advice, Matthias. I'll gratefully take it. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

------- Comment #2 From Alex Deucher 2009-11-27 08:43:05 PST -------
I suspect it's an AGP mode problem. Does changing the AGP mode help? Try the following option in the device section of your xorg.conf: Option "AGPMode" "X" where X = 1 or 2 or 4 or 8 Let me know which mode(s) work and the output of lspci -vnn and I'll add a quirk for your card.
As I understand, OpenSUSE 11.2 doesn't generate xorg.conf by default. What should I do: create a xorg.conf from the resident xorg.conf.install and play with the "AGPMode" "X" option there? Or is there a better way? Couldn't find any RTFM on the subject... Thanks. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

At the beginning of the Xorg.0.log file the config file is printed (it's generated on the fly by the Xserver temporarily). Use this one and add the option (radeon driver section).
I created a xorg.conf file out of my Xorg.0.log output. There is something I must have gotten wrong, because X doesn't start with the newly made xorg.conf file (unexpected EOF error). I attach the copy of my xorg.conf below -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

There's nothing wrong with your xorg.conf file. Well, nevertheless, I get the following error (Xorg.0.log ouput)

Looks like a newline is missing in the file. Add one with your favorite editor.
Stefan, I am sorry, but I lost you there. I am quite willing to help, but my skills/knowledge are somewhat limited. What is a missing "newline" and where should I add one? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

You're not capable of adding another line to the file with an editor? Really?
Of course I am :) (though I'm forced to use vim and such, because a of the superuser/Kwrite bug :)). And I've even just figured out *where* to add it. I didn't know that you *had* to add an empty line after the end of the final section. Anyway, now I do, and I've started to conduct the tests... -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
