[Bug 1047880] New: At virtual console login prompt, can't delete first character entered (13.3)
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1047880 Bug ID: 1047880 Summary: At virtual console login prompt, can't delete first character entered (13.3) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: openSUSE 13.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: ryan.lue@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0 Build Identifier: When I switch into a virtual console (with CTRL-ALT-<F1 through F6>), I can begin typing in the login prompt, but if I've made an error, I can't backspace over the first character I entered. So if I entered 'foo', then I can only delete the 'oo' and am stuck with the leading 'f'. ^U and ^H don't work, either. sardanapalus login: f_ This only happens for initial login prompts. If I enter invalid credentials and get a 'login failed' message, then I can delete anything I enter back to the beginning of the prompt just fine. Or once I'm logged in, I can backspace to the beginning of the shell prompt just fine, too. But once I log out, the problem returns. I have confirmed that the first typed character actually persists in the username field, and isn't merely a buggy visual artifact: if I type my username (rlue) and hit backspace a dozen or so times, then enter 'lue', I can log in successfully. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Switch to login prompt (Ctrl-Alt-F1) 2. Type some letters. 3. Try to delete all the letters you typed. Actual Results: All letters but the first one were deleted. Expected Results: All letters including the first one would be deleted. To clarify, this is happening on the latest version of Tumbleweed, 13.3, as indicated in /etc/SUSE-brand. I selected 13.2 above because 13.3 was not available in the menu. This is a fresh install on a Late 2008 Unibody MacBook. It's happening in all six virtual consoles. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
