[Bug 345454] New: Problem with updated wifi Ralink rt2x00 module
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=345454 Summary: Problem with updated wifi Ralink rt2x00 module Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: rompi@post.cz QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer I use PCMCIA WiFi card Asus WL107g with Ralink chipset (rt2x00). After the fresh installation of Suse 10.3 this card worked perfectly with the originally shipped rt2x00 module (rt2x00-kmp-default.rpm, build 2.0.6+git20070816_2.6.22.5_31-2). However, I've got strong suspection that after a recent online update from the Suse update repository (to rt2x00-kmp-default.rpm, build 2.0.6+git20070816_2.6.22.12_0.2-1.1) the WiFi connection has started work somehow incorrectly: it often takes VERY long until the connection with an access point is established after 'ifup wlan0' and sometimes id doesn'ŧ connect at all and the card must be unplugged and plugged again. Dmesg shows this: phy2 -> rt2500pci_init_bbp: Debug - BBP: 0x36, value: 0x18. phy2 -> rt2500pci_init_bbp: Debug - ...End initialization from EEPROM. ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready Since I haven't changed anything except for the online update, I guess the cause is in the updated module. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The only difference from the 10.3 GA version is that some interchanged firmware IDs have been fixed. Helmut, any idea?
Right, see bug 327838 for details. I don't think the update has anything to do with that issue but who knows :) Jan, do you have any possibility to revert the kmp to the previous version? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
