[Bug 799603] New: Yast2 doesn't allow installation of openSUSE 12.2 with LVM alongside MS Windows 7
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=799603 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=799603#c0 Summary: Yast2 doesn't allow installation of openSUSE 12.2 with LVM alongside MS Windows 7 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: michael.malessa@web.de QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=521098) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=521098) Yast2 screen shot User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:18.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/18.0 Yast2 refuses to install openSUSE 12.2 alongside Windows 7 when LVM based proposal is selected. The partition of Windows set up is fairly regular as far as I can tell (see the attachment "yast2-windows-partitions.png"). Yast2 says that it would delete the partitions created by Windows because it can't resize them due to inconsistent file system. When using custom partition setup Yast2 gives the error message that there is not enough space although there is. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Resize Windows 7 partition 2. Select LVM based proposal during installation of openSUSE 12.2 3. Actual Results: Yast2 refuses to install openSUSE 12.2 alongside Windows 7; it Expected Results: Installation of openSUSE 12.2 alongside Windows 7 This was the first time for me to try LVM because I wanted a fully encrypted system. In the past with version 11.3, 11.4 and 12.1 Yast2 always did a very good job on this laptop when freshly installing the system with regular root and home partitions without encryption. By fresh install I mean deleting all Linux partitions and restoring the MBR before installation. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The logs contain a check for consistency which shows that everything is fine. But the bug report is from end of January while the part in the logs is from December. So apparently the logs are from an older installation and do not include the issue. You would have to save the logs when trying to do the installation. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

No problems at all. (The Windows partitions were not touched; openSUSE 12.2 was removed completely including erasing the partitions from within Windows.) As the problem did not reoccur I would consider this bug report obsolete. P.S.: The bug report was filed only in January because of time constraints. The installation was done in December. Screen shots and Yast2 logs did in fact belong together. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
