When several threads try to write concurrently (especially threads on the NFS server itself) on a NFS mount, it becomes unstable. On the clients we see this message: nfs: server sirius not responding, still trying It's sometimes possible to log on to the server when it's in this state. Disk access is very slow and in the end it's completly unusable (hard reboot required). We don't see any special messages in dmesg or the logfiles. When the system is booted in failsafe mode, the NFS server works fine. It's possible to write with several threads and everything keeps working smoothly. We use the kernel NFS server: nfs-kernel-server-1.1.0-8 uname -a Linux sirius 2.6.22.17-0.1-bigsmp #1 SMP 2008/02/10 20:01:04 UTC i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux cat /proc/cpuinfo (in failsafe mode) processor : 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 model : 15 model name : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5320 @ 1.86GHz stepping : 11 cpu MHz : 1862.004 cache size : 4096 KB physical id : 0 siblings : 1 core id : 0 cpu cores : 1 fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug : no coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 10 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe nx lm constant_tsc up pni monitor ds_cpl vmx est tm2 ssse3 cx16 xtpr dca lahf_lm bogomips : 3727.04 clflush size : 64 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
