The problem would still persist: people who relied on the global configuration would have to adapt their setup.
I'd prefer having the opensuse customized config files in /etc/skel. Everybody would still have to copy them on existing systems, but copying might be easier than adding the removed settings manually?
for many people it would mean "merge the skel files into their own configs to get the formerly working state" as i said ... if your whole problem was just loading the bash parts we should look into which part of the bash config we should port to zsh style configs and restore the rest of the former suse default config. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

some of the keybinds for history navigation are also lost.
I still think a lean global ZSH config is preferable. However it should be possible to put 'unset GLOBAL_RCS' into /etc/zshenv to ignore the system wide config completely.
