The moving distance is approximately the height of the window-title-bar. This happens especially when using the compiz-WM and emerald-window-decorator. Example: Opening GIMP, reposition all tool-windows at the top of the desktop-screen. Close GIMP. Reopening GIMP: All tool-windows have moved downwards for one title-bar-height. Close GIMP. Reopening GIMP: All tool-windows have moved again. This happens especially when using the compiz-WM and emerald-window-decorator.
What does "especially" mean here? Does it happen when using kwin at all? Tests on my machine and another PC show, that this effect only happens under compiz-WM. The other Window-Manager, like KWIN, etc. don´t show the reported bug. Under compiz, it´s not decisive, if you use the emerald-decorator or one of it´s themes. Maybe it´s important that I´m using compiz via the Compiz Fusion-Icon. To answer your last question: I use the actual compiz-version from the 10.3-release. Compiz Version: 0.6.2-2.1 i586.
