[Bug 605333] New: Unable to unmute volume control
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=605333 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=605333#c0 Summary: Unable to unmute volume control Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound AssignedTo: tiwai@novell.com ReportedBy: paulsiu2003@excite.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=361836) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=361836) My hardware configuaration User-Agent: Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux i686; U; en) Presto/2.2.15 Version/10.10 On the final version of Opensuse 11.2 on an Acer 3680 laptop which uses a 82801G (ICH7 Family) HD audio controller, I can unmute the volume using the hotkeys, but not unmute it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. On the laptop, hit FN+F8, which mutes the volume correctly. The graphics show that volume is now X out. 2. Hit FN+F8 again. 3. Actual Results: The volume shows that volume is no longer X out or muted, but the volume is still mute. To unmute, you have to hit the up volume or ummuted it manually using the mouse. Expected Results: The volume should be unmuted and the volume reset to what it was before the mute. This is on the gnome version of Opensuse 11.2. Note that I have tried other Distros and they do not have this problem. I also believe that the correct keys are mapped, so it's not a key mapping issue. I think it's more that when you unmute, the volume stays at zero rather than jumping back to the pre-mute settings. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Try to change gconf key /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/toggle_mute. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I realized that that you were not referring to a disk location but a resource setting in Gnome. I set toggle_mute to true and it appears to resolve the issue. Thanks! The next question is while this may be intended behavior for a Thinkpad. I do not own a Thinkpad. Is it the intention of Opensuse to make all laptop follow the Thinkpad style? This setting is contrary to all of th other distro I have tried. Neither Fedora, Ubuntu, nor Mandriva follow the Thinkpad style on my laptop.
