Not quite sure where the problem lies as I have a few symptoms that may not all be related. 1) At boot I get the NVIDIA flash screen then at several points I also get a screen full of a garbage pattern. This happens before the login screen, then after the login before the desktop fully appears. 2) The cube desktop switching doesn't work. The next workspace just appears. 3) When I try to move a window it goes dark. It moves a small amount then gets stuck. Sometimes I get a grid pattern that appears to "wobble" behind the window that should be moving. Everything slows right down until the wobble stops. This system is openSUSE 11.1. I am using the Factory KDE repository for KDE 4.2. (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSU...) Fully updated.
