http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=625499 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=625499#c0 Summary: Acer Aspire Timeline 5820tg laptop on board MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ862AS eject button not working Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: robcollins55@aim.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100626 SUSE/3.6.6-1.2 Firefox/3.6.6 The hardware dvd eject button for this laptop kills the MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ862AS. ie - the OS no longer can find this optical drive after pressing it's hardware eject key and a disk cannot be read after this key pressing. I am pretty sure that it is this hardware button ejecting that causes the drive to die as issuing the "eject" command from cli pops the usable drive open to receive a disk which can be read after closing the tray. Doing the same operation using the eject button still pops the tray open but instead renders the drive dead and the "eject" command returns an error if subsequently issued. Only a reboot restores the drive to a usable state. This situation means that the only way to get a disk into the drive and read it is by issuing the eject command to open the tray, or boot the laptop with a disk already inserted. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Press drive eject button 2.insert disk and close tray Actual Results: Disk is unreadable, drive is dead. Expected Results: Device notifier and OS should recognise the newly inserted disk but does not. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
