Installation of 12.3 RC1 did not work directly because after starting the Installation option in the boot menu the screen went blank and I could not see anything. What I needed to do was to power-reset the machine and boot with "no modeset" option. This at least brought me to the textmode installation and told me that Xorg could not start. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. I again have the problem that the default setting of the graphics does not work and freezes the system. BUT: when I select "no KMS" in the 12.2 boot screen then at least I get into the graphical installer! KMS driver was already broken on 12.2. Disabling it (fallback to generic framebuffer) fixes the DVD installation. I bet 12.2 Live-Image is broken as well. With 12.3RC1 I could not. And even after 12.3 text installation I had a system without ANY Xorg - therefore the system was unusable for my needs.
