[Bug 792325] New: Xen PCI passthough of graphics card fails after patch openSUSE-2012-812
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=792325 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=792325#c0 Summary: Xen PCI passthough of graphics card fails after patch openSUSE-2012-812 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Xen AssignedTo: jdouglas@suse.com ReportedBy: subscribe@unix.no-ip.org QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=515340) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=515340) lspci output from VM host User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Firefox/17.0 Have been running a Windows 7 VM with Xen that have PCI passthrough of graphics card, soundcard & USB hub for a while. All was running well until I ran a zypper update with patch openSUSE-2012-812, after that, the VM host does a hard reset if I try to passthrough the graphics card. The other PCI devices still work as expected, if I remove the graphics card from the configuration. After reverting to Xen 4.1.3_01-5.6.2 instead of 4.1.3_04-5.13.1 which is supplied with the patch, it works again. Note that I don´t use VGA passthrough in the Xen configuration, only normal PCI passthrough for the graphics card (AMD Radeon HD 6450), so it acts as a secondary display in the VM. The last messages that appear on the console before the host resets are like this: <snip> Dec 1 22:45:04 xen kernel: pciback pci-2-0: 22 Couldn't locate PCI device (0000:00:12.0)! perhaps already in-use? Dec 1 23:28:08 xen kernel: pciback pci-1-0: 22 Couldn't locate PCI device (0000:05:00.0)! perhaps already in-use? Dec 1 23:52:09 xen kernel: pciback pci-2-0: 22 Couldn't locate PCI device (0000:00:14.2)! perhaps already in-use? <snip> I don´t think this is relevant since it occurs even when everything is working as it should. As you can see it is exactly one line per VM boot, and also different PCI devices. lspci output is attached. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Update with patch openSUSE-2012-812 2.Try to boot VM with graphics card passed through 3. Actual Results: VM host does a hard reset Expected Results: Should work as in Xen version 4.1.3_01-5.6.2 before the patch. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Motherboard don´t have a serial port so logging from there will be difficult. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
