[Bug 1001205] New: Proposed partitioning for encrypted LVM doesn't work and kills the installer
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1001205 Bug ID: 1001205 Summary: Proposed partitioning for encrypted LVM doesn't work and kills the installer Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.2 Hardware: Macintosh OS: openSUSE 42.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation Assignee: yast2-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: pczarny@ancientforest.net QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:48.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/48.0 Build Identifier: When installing Leap 42.2 beta 2, I selected as my preferred partitioning: encrypted LVM, XFS, no separate /home partition, swap large enough for suspend-to-disk. The installer then tells me it will create 3 partitions: -boot one (~156MB) -another one (~156MB, NB: same size as the one above - that was suspicious to me) -main volume (for / and swap) I try to continue with this and clicking "next" brings up an error dialog (sorry, didn't capture that) where I acknowledge that installation cannot continue and then it dies with "signal 11" on a black screen. Interestingly, if I select the same but non-encrypted LVM then it installs fine. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot from USB stick with 42.2 beta2 on it; this is on Macbook 15" retina (early 2013 model) so I boot it in EFI mode. 2. Start the installation and select the partitioning as above: _encrypted_ LVM + XFS + no separate /home. 3. Proposed partitions look suspicious (2 volumes of the same size, for what purpose?) and then the installer itself says that it cannot proceed with that. I tried this twice and both times the result was the same. Actual Results: Installer stops with error dialog and then when I acknowledge that it goes to a black screen with "signal 11". Expected Results: Partitions fine and uses encrypted LVM. This was on a Macbook which never had anything else on but MacOSX. I booted into the installer in EFI mode. There is no reFind on it, i.e. I intend to have the Apple firmware run Linux bootloader (which works fine once I was able to install with non-encrypted LVM). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
