Meaning I don't do anything special in zen-updater coz it stoppes before I can. But zen-installer runs as expected. What I have installed that can be involved is: zen-updater-7.1.0-70 zmd-inventory-7.1.1.0-19 zmd-7.1.100.0-9 libzypp-zmd-backend-7.1.1.0_0.4-8 libzypp-2.2.3-2 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=210545 ------- Comment #3 from andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de 2006-10-12 01:18 MST ------- You can reproduce it like this: cp /some/file/which/is/not/a/zmd/database /var/lib/zmd/zmd.db And then try to run zen-updater. It will show exactly this backtrace. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=210545 ------- Comment #4 from claes.backstrom@gmail.com 2006-10-12 01:32 MST ------- If I delete the database /var/lib/zmd/zmd.db it works as it should. But I haven't played with the database earlier so it should fix this problem itself. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=210545 ------- Comment #5 from andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de 2006-10-12 01:38 MST ------- Claes, this bug is about preventing zen-updater from crashing, not about ways to make it work again. Deleting /var/lib/zmd/zmd.db is a workaround and not a fix! To answer the question how to reproduce this bug, it can be triggered by doing something like cp /var/lib/rpm/Packages /var/lib/zmd/zmd.db while zmd is running and then starting zen-updater. It would be highly appreciated if zen-updater could behave gracefully here and show a nice message instead of a backtrace, independently of the question *why* zmd.db is corrupted. Ideally, end users never see a backtrace. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
