When I execute the .RPM file via the Konqueror Integration of the Package Manager errors result as attached. It would appear the the package manager cannot identify a new version of the same application. The RPM Package Manager executed via Konqueror KDE4, has had its fare share of bugs in the 10.x releases. Upgraded to Critical to verify bug is fixed in time for 11.0 RC or Final -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

RPM failed: file /usr/bin/acroread from install of AdobeReader_enu-8.1.3-1 conflicts with file from package acroread-8.1.2_SU1-0.1
This is an rpm message and has nothing to do with Konqueror, you would see that message no matter how you call rpm.
Yes, you are right. I guess you downloaded the package from Adobe site.
Obviously, because the package is called AdobeReader_enu-8.1.3-1 and our package is called acroread-8.1.2_SU1 (or the new one acroread-8.1.3. I already prepared the update and submitted it, I don’t now whether it is already published or still in the maintenance queue).
Isn't there a package available specificly for openSUSE?
Yes, called "acroread" not "AdobeReader_enu".
There is not much we can do with this problem.
Yes.
This is a packaging issue of the Adobe's rpm package which is not compatible with our acroread package. We would have to sync package names and/or dependency data in .spec files with Adobe.
Yes, the only thing we could do is to rename our package also to AdobeReader_enu. Than an update to a higher version number would work (in both directions). But if the version number is the same, there would still be an issue with the build numbers.
As a workaround, you can remove package 'acroread' and install the one you downloaded.
Yes, please do this if you want to install the package downloaded from Adobe now. Delete the acroead package first, ignoring dependency errors of any, then install the package downloaded from Adobe. Or wait until our 8.1.3 update is available online.
Reassigning to acroread package maintainer. Mike, maybe you can talk to Adobe to try to resolve this issue.
I’m pretty sure Adobe will not rename their package. We could rename our package. But not for 11.0. And I think this is not a critical issue at all, we usually release an update fast when it becomes available, I updated our package the same day when it became available on the Adobe site. → INVALID. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Sure, but they could add 'Provides: acroread' to their spec file, and we could add 'Provides: AcrobadReader_enu'. But still there would be a problem with the build numbers. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
