[Bug 739797] New: provide a distribution-synchronization(distro-sync) command for zypper
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=739797 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=739797#c0 Summary: provide a distribution-synchronization(distro-sync) command for zypper Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Factory Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp AssignedTo: zypp-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: estellnb@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Opera/9.80 (X11; Linux i686; U; de) Presto/2.10.229 Version/11.60 A distribution-synchronization command for zypper would in my mind be a good idea: Sometimes it is better to strictly synchronize with all currently available package sources than to leave packages which have become unreachable in place. This means that packages which are no more available through any active repository will be deleted. This option can either be used for up- or downgrading and will always produce a clean system. Red Hats yum does already provide this feature. It could furthermore save us from implementing an even more complicated rollback system which would be more resource intense and sometimes also undesireable (installed some new packages in the meanwhile which we wanna keep.). Reproducible: Always -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
