[Bug 947493] New: vesa: On certain hardware Driver gets in an endless Loop in DPMS BIOS function
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=947493 Bug ID: 947493 Summary: vesa: On certain hardware Driver gets in an endless Loop in DPMS BIOS function Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 201505* Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 42.1 Status: CONFIRMED Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org Assignee: eich@suse.com Reporter: eich@suse.com QA Contact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: Development Blocker: --- The xf86-video-vesa driver executes the VBIOS to perform operations on the hardware. On certain Intel chips setting the DPMS mode thru the BIOS can end up in an endless loop rendering the system pretty much inaccessible locally. It has been found that this only occurs when trying to set the mode that's already set currently. So to work around it one needs to identify the current mode. The BIOS offers an interface to obtain this. This interface however hasn't been implemented in the server yet. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
