Your machine looks like an unknown model, and actually not in the supported list. Could you get alsa-info.sh with --no-upload option again at the states both HP plugged and unplugged, and attach the generated files? Don't use skype unless arecord works. OK, to repeat myself: first test via arecord like arecord -vv -fdat -Dplughw foo.wav and check foo.wav. But, I guess there seems still a driver bug (or a BIOS bug) that only one mic input is probed. I'll check this problem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

On your machine, the input (recording) source can be selected via "Digital Input Source" mixer element. As default, it's set up for the internal mic. For using the external mic, choose it to "Analog Inputs". amixer set "Digital Input Source" "Analog Inputs" Then try arecord. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

You need to record, then play it back. (There is "Analog Loopback" switch, but you shouldn't use it unless you know what you are doing.) - There are some volume controls for recording level in addition. - For selecting the internal mic as the recording source, choose "Digital Mic 1" in "Digital Input Source" mixer element. In command line, run like amixer set "Digital Input Source" "Digital Mic 1" - For selecting the external mic, choose "Analog Inputs" in "Digital Input Source" mixer element. In command line, amixer set "Digital Input Source" "Analog Inputs" - The recording level can be adjusted via "Capture" volume. At least, it should work for the external mic. Since the internal mic is a digital mic, this might not work (I'm not sure). - "Mux" capture volume (might) influence on the recording level. This basically corresponds to the mic boost level, up to 40dB. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
