[Bug 933808] New: yast ncurses displays weird characters in tty
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=933808 Bug ID: 933808 Summary: yast ncurses displays weird characters in tty Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 201505* Hardware: All OS: openSUSE 13.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 Assignee: yast2-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: i@marguerite.su QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: Community User Blocker: No Created attachment 636923 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=636923&action=edit TTY screenshot Hi, I don't know how to precisely discribe the problem, so I just attached a screenshoot. before my tumbleweed update, yast ncurses displays fine. but now it uses some weird characters to fill the white space (see screenshoot) I think the problem may be related to unicode: I have been using zh_CN.UTF-8 as my locale(of course Chinese can't be displayed in TTY), before the update file names in Chinese are displayed in one way while after the update they're displayed another way. output of locale command: LANG=zh_CN.UTF-8 LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.UTF-8 LC_NUMERIC="zh_CN.UTF-8" LC_TIME="zh_CN.UTF-8" LC_COLLATE="zh_CN.UTF-8" LC_MONETARY="zh_CN.UTF-8" LC_MESSAGES="zh_CN.UTF-8" LC_PAPER="zh_CN.UTF-8" LC_NAME="zh_CN.UTF-8" LC_ADDRESS="zh_CN.UTF-8" LC_TELEPHONE="zh_CN.UTF-8" LC_MEASUREMENT="zh_CN.UTF-8" LC_IDENTIFICATION="zh_CN.UTF-8" LC_ALL= -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Probably unicode mode isn't set. Could you please test and call 'unicode_start' in TTY before starting yast.
Yes, after setting unicode mode by running 'unicode_start', yast now run fine. So who should we redirect this bug to? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

But before restart its status was also success. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
