[Bug 295732] New: Unable to cancel print job
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=295732 Summary: Unable to cancel print job Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: p79kem2@yahoo.ca QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Cups does not properly remove cancelled print job from print spooler. Scenario: Printer: Samsung ML-4600 As superuser, remove all files/directories from /var/spool/cups. Restart computer. After computer restart, turn on the printer. This is to confirm that there are no print jobs to be printed. Turn off the printer. Print something, a web page in Firefox for example Run KJobViewer to cancel print job. (It does not matter what utility is used to manage the printer) Turn printer on, Computer will attempt to print cancelled print job. Usually garbage characters are printed. The only fix that works the majority of time is to shut off the printer, remove all files/directories from /var/spool/cups (as superuser) and then then restart the computer. Having the printer shut off. canclelling the print job, stopping Cups (sudo /etc/init.d/cups stop), removing all files/directories from /var/spool/cups, starting Cups (sudo /etc/init.d/cups start), turning on the printer does nothing stop the printer from printing garbage. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
