[Bug 538189] New: Kernel modul sata_promise not loaded
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=538189 Summary: Kernel modul sata_promise not loaded Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Milestone 6 Platform: i586 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: a.winzer@koenig-dey.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; NET CLR 3.5.30729) During installation of openSUSE 11.2 milestone 6 the kernel modul sata_promise is loaded due to the use of an older raid controller FastTrak S150 TX2plus. Everything looks fine. I'm even able to change the partitions without any errors. I only see one hdd -> the raid. Only grub says it can't be installed until I choose to install it to the MBR. After the first reboot the system hangs. I see grub's boot menu with 3 entries: (1) openSUSE ... (2) openSUSE failsafe (3) fdd. If I continue, I got the followed messaged: [ 0.162991] pci 0000:00:04.0: BAR 6: address space collision on of device [0xfffe0000-0xffffffff] doing fast boot mkdir: cannot create directory `/dev/mapper`: File exists mknod: `/dev/mapper/control`: File exists Creating deivce nodes with udev Trying manual resume from /dev/mapper/pdc_fbfhijbj_part 6 resume device /dev/mapper/pdc_fbfhijbj_part6 not found (ignoring) Trying manual resume from /dev/mapper/pdc_fbfhijbj_part 6 resume device /dev/mapper/pdc_fbfhijbj_part6 not found (ignoring) Waiting for device /dev/mapper/pdc_fbfhijbj_part7 to appear: .................. Could not find /dev/mapper/pdc_fbfhijbj_part7 Want me to fall back to /dev/mapper/pdc_fbfhijbj_part7 ? (Y/n) I found out that the possible reason for that is the missing module sata_promise in the initrd. I tried a lot but I was unable to integrate it (mount by hand, chroot etc. pp). If I boot the system with the install DVD I can either see, that in /etc/fstab most partitions are missing. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Until I don't have more computers with raid controllers I can install openSUSE 11.2 milestone 6, I don't know if this is just a problem of this special raid controller or of (all) more raid conrollers. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
