[Bug 813986] New: Latex (texLive) missing style files (dashrule.sty, wrapfig.sty, algorithm2e.sty)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=813986 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=813986#c0 Summary: Latex (texLive) missing style files (dashrule.sty, wrapfig.sty, algorithm2e.sty) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ulrich.deiters@uni-koeln.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=533965) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=533965) LaTeX source file, log file User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:20.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/20.0 After upgrading from openSUSE 12.2 to 12.3, a LaTeX article and book documents does not compile anymore. LaTeX reports missing style files: dashrule.sty, wrapfig.sty, algorithm2e.sty). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. on attached LaTeX document, run "latex doc" Actual Results: a lot of error messages about missing style files, particularly dashrule.sty, algorithm2e.sty, portland.sty, wrapfig.sty; see attached log file The actual error messages depend on the list of packages loaded. Expected Results: a nice DVI file The missing style files are called by packages algorithm2e, portland, dashrule, wrapfig. If the corresponding \usepackage commands are deleted, the LaTeX processor is content - unless the packages are needed somewhere, of course. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=813986 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=813986#c2 Ulrich Deiters <ulrich.deiters@uni-koeln.de> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |ulrich.deiters@uni-koeln.de --- Comment #2 from Ulrich Deiters <ulrich.deiters@uni-koeln.de> 2013-04-10 12:53:55 UTC --- After some research into the matter, it turns out that the upgrade process did not upgrade or lost the texLive dashrule, wrapfig, and algorithm2e packages. Some of these TeX extensions had probably been part of other packages. Manually selecting the appropriate texLive packages in the yast software installer solves most of the problems. "portland", however, appears to have disappeared. \usepackage[landscape]{geometry} may be an alternative. I suggest that the creators of upgrades should be more careful when reorganizing LaTeX packages. An upgrade should not lose features; if this cannot be guaranteed, the users should at least be warned. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

If something is missed use e.g. zypper in 'tex(dashrule.sty)' please note that now there are more than 6000 small TeXive packages packed in the same way as this is done upstream. Compare with http://www.tug.org/texlive/. There *are* meta packages including full TeXLive, please use the packages which include the scheme and/or collection in the package name e.g.: texlive-scheme-basic texlive-scheme-context texlive-scheme-full texlive-scheme-gust texlive-scheme-medium texlive-scheme-minimal texlive-scheme-small texlive-scheme-tetex texlive-scheme-xml texlive-collection-basic texlive-collection-bibtexextra texlive-collection-binextra texlive-collection-context texlive-collection-fontsextra texlive-collection-fontsrecommended texlive-collection-fontutils texlive-collection-formatsextra texlive-collection-games texlive-collection-genericextra texlive-collection-genericrecommended texlive-collection-htmlxml texlive-collection-humanities texlive-collection-latex texlive-collection-latexextra texlive-collection-latexrecommended texlive-collection-luatex texlive-collection-mathextra texlive-collection-metapost texlive-collection-music texlive-collection-omega texlive-collection-pictures texlive-collection-plainextra texlive-collection-pstricks texlive-collection-publishers texlive-collection-science texlive-collection-texinfo texlive-collection-xetex -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
