[Bug 561932] New: gnome-display-properties crashes after docking laptop
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=561932 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=561932#c0 Summary: gnome-display-properties crashes after docking laptop Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dcollingridge@novell.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: Component Test Blocker: --- I have an X200s ThinkPad and a ThinkPad UltraBase with two monitors connected to the base. If the laptop is powered off and I dock it, turn it on and boot it up, I can configure display settings correctly through gnome-display-properties to get both monitors active. However, if the laptop is already running and I dock it, the display shows up on one of the monitors (and the laptop display goes black), but then if I run gnome-display-properties, the application crashes and I get the "Bug Buddy" screen. Here is the particular message from .xsession-errors that shows up when this happens: ** display-properties:ERROR:xrandr-capplet.c:551:rebuild_resolution_combo: code should not be reached ** (bug-buddy:13434): WARNING **: Couldn't load /etc/xdg/autostart/ksmolt-autostart.desktop: Invalid key name: X-KDE-autostart-condition[$e] And here is some other information from Bug Buddy: Distribution: openSUSE 11.2 (i586) Gnome Release: 2.28.0 (null) (SUSE) BugBuddy Version: 2.28.0 System: Linux 2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2009-10-26 15:49:03 +0100 i686 X Vendor: The X.Org Foundation X Vendor Release: 10605000 Selinux: No Accessibility: Disabled GTK+ Theme: Sonar Icon Theme: Gilouche GTK+ Modules: canberra-gtk-module, gnomebreakpad Memory status: size: 0 vsize: 0 resident: 0 share: 0 rss: 0 rss_rlim: 0 CPU usage: start_time: 0 rtime: 0 utime: 0 stime: 0 cutime:0 cstime: 0 timeout: 0 it_real_value: 0 frequency: 0 Here is the gfxcard info: 09: PCI 02.0: 0300 VGA compatible controller (VGA) [Created at pci.318] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pci_8086_2a42 Unique ID: _Znp.j5duo6BuBmF SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0 SysFS BusID: 0000:00:02.0 Hardware Class: graphics card Model: "Intel Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller" Vendor: pci 0x8086 "Intel Corporation" Device: pci 0x2a42 "Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller" SubVendor: pci 0x17aa "Lenovo" SubDevice: pci 0x20e4 Revision: 0x07 Memory Range: 0xf2000000-0xf23fffff (rw,non-prefetchable) Memory Range: 0xd0000000-0xdfffffff (rw,prefetchable) I/O Ports: 0x1800-0x1807 (rw) IRQ: 30 (136830 events) I/O Ports: 0x3c0-0x3df (rw) Module Alias: "pci:v00008086d00002A42sv000017AAsd000020E4bc03sc00i00" Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown 10: PCI 02.1: 0380 Display controller [Created at pci.318] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pci_8086_2a43 Unique ID: ruGf.EY_WiyTYTN5 SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.1 SysFS BusID: 0000:00:02.1 Hardware Class: graphics card Model: "Intel Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller" Vendor: pci 0x8086 "Intel Corporation" Device: pci 0x2a43 "Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller" SubVendor: pci 0x17aa "Lenovo" SubDevice: pci 0x20e4 Revision: 0x07 Memory Range: 0xf2400000-0xf24fffff (rw,non-prefetchable) Module Alias: "pci:v00008086d00002A43sv000017AAsd000020E4bc03sc80i00" Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown Primary display adapter: #9 Please let me know what other information would be useful. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Yes, that's the plan. It might take some time, though. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Not likely, you have already upgraded to newer versions of openSUSE, which had a lot more bug fixes. We believe that this specific bug has been fixed during one of the release cycles; as such, I close the bug as 'FIXED'. Should you be able to reproduce this issue on a newer openSUSE version, please feel to report it again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
