http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=620000 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=620000#c0 Summary: Clickpad not detected Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: RC 2 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mail@andreas-demmer.de QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100625 Firefox/3.6.6 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET4.0C) openSUSE 11.3 RC2 does not detect the Synaptics ClickPad of my HP Envy 14 notebook. According to Takashi Iwai (the author of the ClickPad patches), the patches should already be applied to the 11.3 kernel. This renders the touchpad nearly useless as normal clicks move the pointer and unintended items are clicked accidently. You can find whether it's clickpad in /var/log/Xorg.0.log instead. The xorg-x11-driver-input and kernel packages in comment 1 have many fixes and improvements, and it's confirmed to work at least on HP machines here. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I installed the x86_64 package manually and now my keyboard and clickpad work again. What does work: - general cursor movement - dead zones on the button area - precise clicking and window moving again, yay! :) What does NOT work: - multitouch for two-finger-scrolling etc.: touchpad recognizes only 1 finger - LED for turning the touchpad on/off by tapping the uper left corner Now the ClickPad is at least usable, but missing multitouch is sad because the device supports it. The rebuild seems taking longer than I thought due to the repository update mess. Try the older packages first. Two finger scrolls aren't enabled as default. You'll need to enable them via synclient or any other GUI (depending on the desktop system). The double-tap on LED works somehow, but it's a bit too sensitive in this version. Needs some adjustment in future. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Without it, I am unable to build the broadcom driver for my wireless card. :-( I tried to build kernel-syms from the src package but it fails with error "Unable to open /usr/src/packages/SOURXES/kernel-spec-macros: No such file or directory". Now I see what you mean with updating your packages follow the latest kernel! Main desktop-kernel is 2.6.34.1-1.1, your build is right now 2.6.34-13.2 which is older, right? But basically you don't need kernel-syms unless you build KMP. You just need kernel-$FLAVOR-devel (and possibly kernel-devel) packages to build a module locally.
