[Bug 349038] New: Boot CDROM needed to boot from non bootable USB hard drive
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=349038 Summary: Boot CDROM needed to boot from non bootable USB hard drive Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ed-dori-robinov@att.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Customer Hard disk installation is on a non bootable USB Hard Drive. When Gnome is loaded in MBR at stage 1.5 error 21 (hard drive not seen) is encountered. Gnome has to be removed with the Windows installation disk since it can't be removed in Linux(from what I can see). CDROM is bootable. Bootloader Iso for a boot CDROM needs to be made to allow loading from non bootable USB hard drives. Another alternative is to make sure the USB drives are loaded before Gnome. The first is safer however since the MBR is not touched. In any case the USB drive has to be made recognizable before any loading takes place. It isn't in the setup that exists now. Detailed instructions to make such a CDROM have to be done in a Windows environment since it doesn't load in linux except from live CDs. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
