Russian resource display incorrect and i can not open their, English normal. However if i open English resource, i can normally see Russian folders and work with their. I've tested this with an openSUSE 11.1 and 11.2 MS 8 system and from both I'm able to see a share I've created on a Microsoft Windows XP professional German edition. By intention I've used a share name including an umlaut.
I've tested with openSUSE 11.1 LiveCD, and all correct display. See screen 1. And tested on openSUSE 11.2 M8 LiveCD, Russian resource display like my machine. Please try to set
dos charset = cp1251
in your /etc/samba/smb.conf.
Please provide the missing output of the locale command from your openSUSE system.
I add "dos charset = cp1251" in /etc/samba/smb.conf in general section, and reboot. no effect. This has nothing to do with the the locale smbd uses as smbd isn't part of the trouble. This is an issue of the window manager or better the environment the window manager uses. Unfortunately I'm not able to reproduce the issue with openSUSE 11.1 and 112 RC 1 while using a KDE desktop. Which Live CD version have you used? And it is independent if I use Microsoft XP or Samba as file server. But as soon as I use the share name "Müll" I get an incorrect formated output of smbclient -L <server_name> which I'll attach next. One character is missing from the output to align it correctly. As soon as I use "mʏll" as share name in /etc/samba/smb,conf the output of smbclient -L is worse. It gets damaged right at the "ʏ" char. @Andrey: Could you please attach the working share names or better the "smbclient -L <serber_name>" output from your openSUSE 11.1 system? Also a network capture would be useful to us. I get the same result if I use GDM to start the gnome session.
"same result" its is correct or incorrect?
And it is independent if I use Microsoft XP or Samba as file server.
But as soon as I use the share name "Müll" I get an incorrect formated output of smbclient -L <server_name> which I'll attach next. One character is missing from the output to align it correctly.
As soon as I use "mʏll" as share name in /etc/samba/smb,conf the output of smbclient -L is worse. It gets damaged right at the "ʏ" char.
@Andrey: Could you please attach the working share names or better the "smbclient -L <serber_name>" output from your openSUSE 11.1 system?
