http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=588984 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=588984#c0 Summary: network setting for wireless carrd disable/enable Power Management isn't working Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mcaj@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- HI, I have had trouble with my home network wireless card RaLink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI It is the same bug like 556513 I think. But, I was trying to fix it via Yast2. In the Network setting for wlanx card, there is "expert setting: with Channel usually set on automatic, transmit speed (auto or 54 or 11 etc) and access point (in my case empty) And bellow all there is click button calls in Czech "pouzit spravu napajeni" I guess it means "use Power Management" right ? So I unselected this button and expected Yast sets up my wireless card Power Management:off . The same I can do as root with command : iwconfig wlan0 power off but noting happed. Is this button working well, or I just don't understated his function. Steps to reprodice: 1. install OpenSuse 11.2 on machine with wireless card 2. configure your wlan card on local AP - do not expert setting. and then check your default ur wlan card on local AP - do not expert setting. and then check your default Power mennagmet setting : iwconfig |grep -i power By defalt it shloud be set on ON. 3. Open Yast - network setting - edit your wlan card, click on next. In the securrity part click on Expert setting and unselect use Power Management. 4. restart your network and check your Power Management. Noting happed it is still set on ON. I fixed it manual add command "iwconfig $INTERFACE power off" in to /etc/sysconfig/network/scripts/ifup-wireless, but I think this option shloud do it other way .... This option is enabled by default. The result is WIRELESS_POWER='yes' in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlan0. Functionality to set power-management of the wlan adapter has not been implemented in sysconfig yet. But changes in the Yast are needed to support the power-management in sysconfig. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
