[Bug 327286] New: More info on ACPI as required
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=327286#c2 Summary: More info on ACPI as required Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: RC 1 Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jack@cmp-france.homelinux.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer Hi, I have installed 10.3-RC1 yesterday on my laptop; Since you are asking for more info on this subject, here is what I have found so far. Hardware: Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100. What was working on 10.2: battery events, suspend-to-disk. Suspend-to-ram wasn't really working, at least not with the Nvidia drivers loaded, I had problems on wake up. I am using a 1GB swap partition for suspend-to-disk. CPU temp and fan speed in KSysGuard: I don't know I didn't really care about them before. Now on 10.3-RC1: * Neither of the suspends work. Suspend-to-ram will just start the screensaver, suspend-to-disk seems to suspend but the system crashes upon the end of the procedure (the progression bar was nearly at its end). I have included my /var/log/pm-suspend.log below. My last suspend attempt was a suspend-to-disk. * CPU temp: detected correctly. * Fan speed: I get no data, although I know the fan is active. * Battery event: KPowerSave detects when I remove the power adapter. I can't test further because my battery is extremely old, there is about 15 minutes of autonomy left, and it seems (even on 10.2) that it isn't reporting the remaining autonomy correctly which of course makes the system crash at some point. I hope this helps. That would be really helpful as different developers are working on (a) suspend to disk/ram, (b) the ACPI kernel code and (c) kpowersave. I'm adding the corresponding parties to this bug already so that they can take care. Once you have filed the separate bugs, please post the corresponding bug numbers in this report. Thank you! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

KSysGuard / fan: 328251 Suspend: 328260 Why 3? I've detected only two problems - related to ACPI at least, I may have an other one but it wasn't in my first report and has nothing to do with ACPI anyway. I want to check with the developers of the drivers I use for my PCMCIA wireless card first.
