[Bug 222491] New: Wireless network installation forces Encryption Key
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=222491 Summary: Wireless network installation forces Encryption Key Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Beta 2 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: smotad@mi.madritel.es QAContact: jsrain@novell.com When using the Mini-CD to install via Internet (FTP installation) and selecting a wireless card, even though you specify no encryption the SUSE installation process configures the connection with an Encryption Key value (3030-3030-3030-3030-3030). Thus the connection to the AP can not be established (and the Internet installation will not work). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Steffen, you could call 'iwconfig $inteface key off' in case the user did not set encryption, just to be sure. Would also make unencrypted connection after a WEP encrypted connection (attempt) possible, so might be a good idea anyway. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

My workaround was opening a console (ALT+F9) and executing 'iwconfig eth1 key off'. The only problem I had after completing installation was that the iw2200 firmware was not installed, so I had to extract it from the initrd archive used by the installation CD. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Closing this bug, as Steffen's change should fix it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
