[Bug 230742] New: HWUP slows down machine
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=230742 Summary: HWUP slows down machine Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: 32bit OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: korfball@grimweb.info QAContact: qa@suse.de At boot-up several instances of HWUP are started. Halfway boot-up (usually around USB devices) the pc gets really slow. After finally reaching KDE the HWUP sequences are still running at about 95% CPU, not stopping unless told so by doing "kdesu ksysguard". When I run YaST-TV it just hangs and when I check the ksysguard again, it tells me several instances of HWUP are running again. I haven't really checked all YaST parts, but YaST-samba works fine. Can you strace such a process and check, what it is doing? My assumption is that it hangs at "echo -n [device_id] > /sys/bus/*/drivers/*/bind". Please have a look and also attach output of "hwinfo" to this bug report. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Dunno why though... but it seems my problem with slowness is solved... (and no more instances of HWUP running when KDE is running as far as I can see)." -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
