Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: wcomegys@controller.state.nv.us QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:9.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/9.0.1 Hi ; On OpenSuse 12.1, we updated drbd to 8.4.1 both the km and the tools following the instructions here. How To Upgrade DRBD Userland Version To 8.3.9 Under OpenSUSE 11.4 | HowtoForge - Linux Howtos and Tutorials It wasn't bad on step two change 8.3 to 8.4 wget http://oss.linbit.com/drbd/8.4/drbd-8.4.1.tar.gz tar zxvf drbd-8.4.1.tar.gz Make sure you add --with-km to the configure line cd drbd-8.4.1/ /configure --prefix=/usr --localstatedir=/var --sysconfdir=/etc --with-utils --with-pacemaker --with-km make clean all make install After doing this I am seeing high cpu utilization when writing to disk not when sending, I am using protocol A If I copy a large file from the command prompt I see 100% utilization on 1 cpu and the network transfer the data. When the command prompt comes back the the data has all been written the network continues to send the data however, the cpu goes back to reasonable levels under 10% total cpu utilization. I tried top, I can't see drbd in top. -Bill Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Build drbd following instructions above 2. configure drbd protocol A 3. Link the two, we are using a openvpn tunnel, I disabled the firewall for testing. Expected Results: I expect approximately the results I get on my drbd 8.3.7 version with opensuse 11.3 where the cpu utilization stay under 20%. Both are running on top of vmware 4.1.0.
