[Bug 1185740] New: Forcing Plasma Wayland session to run everything through XWayland causes more problems than it solves
https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1185740 Bug ID: 1185740 Summary: Forcing Plasma Wayland session to run everything through XWayland causes more problems than it solves Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE Workspace (Plasma) Assignee: opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: pointedstick@zoho.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- In the past, this might have been justifiable as native Wayland support was rarer and buggier. However today that is not the case anymore, and forcing everything to go through XWayland even if it has native Wayland support causes many problems. Everything is blurry when using a high DPI scale factor because XWayland doesn't have hidpi support (it just upscales the 1x version). Spectacle doesn't work right. Trying to work around it by forcing GDK_BACKEND=wayland manually breaks Electron apps. Also this code path is untested by KWin developers. I would recommend returning to upstream defaults as it produces a better user experience and also encourages upstream to actually fix bugs that come from them, rather than working around bugs introduced by you. :) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The non full variant has been dropped some time ago - I can see just one (the full).
Yes indeed, that's why this bugreport was closed as FIXED... ;-) The normal Wayland session is now a "full" one as provided by upstream. (and Qt doesn't prefer xcb on Wayland anymore, i.e. KDE applications do run in Wayland mode when inside a Wayland session) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
