Please note that the justification for the change is really an important part
That's exactly the part which bothers me. The only justification I can give is that it is useful to be able to see the stutuses of the vulnerabilities for a particular system (instead of running a 3rd party [potentially unsafe tool] like https://github.com/speed47/spectre-meltdown-checker).
