I forgot to do that. I have to think about this. If I try this again I need to minimize the damage to the Vista partitions. I did not expect them to get hit and they did. I am just finishing up restoring them right now. The only really notable thing is that the Partitioner kept on turning "sda5" into a swap partition instead of an ext3. It looks like the program can only make the first partition either "/" or "swap". -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It was only a bit simpler. I had a similar set of warnings that time, but the installation completed, and we had other concerns at the time so I did not mention it. On Nov. 30, I uploaded a set of YaST2 logs to Bug #450176. I just downloaded that set of logs and looked it over. There is a log file for that installation. As I say, it is not identical to the one in this case, but I know that I recognized some of the warnings that came up. I installed 11.0 using a DVD which was able to create the partition set that I wanted. I then used that set of partitions to install 11.1 RC1. To install 11.1 RC1, the partitioner only had to re-format and create the "fstab" mount points. This worked without any problems at all and there were no warnings of any kind. So it appears that the problem is either in the actual partition handling, or a combination of the partitioning and the creating of the file systems. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

As far as "re-creating" the situation. I am reluctant to risk the HP-2133, because that Vista installation is an actual "work" computer for me. On the other hand, I do not know what would happen if I tried it on the Aspire One. I expect that the same result should occur, but because it is not exactly the same, it might not have the same effect. Either way, it takes me a lot of time to go through re-installations, but at least with the Aspire One, if it gets trashed badly, I can put it in a corner and ignore it for a month or two and it will not affect me much. Regarding a possible RC2: You guys should mention to whomever is in charge that it would be a really good idea to have an RC2. There were other issues regarding installing and we need to know if they have really been resolved, so I have a good reason to re-install on the Aspire One again. That would be a reasonable use of time, even if it does get trashed the first time. I really disagree with jumping from RC1 to GM to Final for this version. . . . Anyway, if you feel you have to close this as INVALID for now, at the very latest, when "Final" is out, I will do a re-install onto the Aspire One at that time, and I will try to remember to change the partitions to this set and see if it crashes -- and hopefully remember to upload the logs too. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

All I can say is that I hope he is right, but I have my doubts about it. In any case of a true crash (which is happening here), there is no such thing as predictability -- only probability and hindsight. We are about 10 day after availability now, and it is clear that there are problems with more computers than just the HP2133. The good side is that the problems mainly seem to be regarding the GNOME LiveCD ISO. I think it would be a good idea stopping downloads of this file until a fix is found for either this bug or the Grub bug (or preferably both). An updated ISO could be release later. I say this in part because, if you think about it, the LiveCD's are particularly popular with beginners. I approach a LiveCD thinking that if I can run it Live, then the installer can be trusted, and I expect most beginners feel that way. In this case it seems to be the opposite. It is not a good way to "make new friends." -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
