[Bug 293859] New: Wrong dpi settings on multiple screens setup
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=293859 Summary: Wrong dpi settings on multiple screens setup Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 10.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: mack@ifis.cs.tu-bs.de QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com Found By: --- I have a two monitor setup here with 2560x1024 pixels, which will incorrectly be reported as 380x302 millimeters, so the resulting resolution will be 171x86 dpi, which is nonsense. The screen size is taken from ONE monitor only, but not from both of them. mack@is41 ~ 317 > xdpyinfo | grep resol resolution: 171x86 dots per inch mack@is41 ~ 318 > xdpyinfo | grep dim dimensions: 2560x1024 pixels (380x302 millimeters) mack@is41 ~ 319 > xorg.conf says "Xinerama" "off" for some funny reason, even though in practice I'm running in xinerama mode of my Matrox G450, at least it was called this way in previous versions of X11. It states only one screen in ServerLayout section, so it looks like /etc/X11/xorg.conf is not used, even though Xorg.0.log states, it uses this file. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Btw.: it would be better to prefer the user supplied infos (in xorg.conf) >ahead of other sources. Commandline switches should have highest priority, I >think, then config files, and lastly other sources like built in defaults. I fully agree. It seems one cannot disable monitor detection of this driver, so you're somewhat lost. Does it help to to specify it on the Xserver commandline at least?
