This used to work in 10.0 and 9.n on my PC.
Now, it just says it will be halted immediately, blinks a few lights, and sits there with the power on.
I already edited my menu.lst and made the acpi=force and it does not turn the power off.
How to get it to shut down and turn the power off?
What hardware you have? If you are not sure run in console: /sbin/lspci

The BIOS update from 07-Sept-01 included a readme that says "ACPI S3 is currently not supported in system BIOS." The automatic power shut-down does not work in openSUSE 10.2 even with the most current BIOS update. This automatic shutdown worked in openSUSE 10.0 and 9.n versions of SUSE on my HP Pavilion 8776c PC. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

The combination updated motherboard BIOS and updated menu.lst boot with acpi=force make the automatic shut down work correctly. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
