[Bug 1132659] New: NetworkManager-applet: no context menu when using systray instead of indicator
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1132659 Bug ID: 1132659 Summary: NetworkManager-applet: no context menu when using systray instead of indicator Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: 3rd party software Assignee: os.gnome.maintainers@gmail.com Reporter: maurizio.galli@gmail.com QA Contact: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com CC: seife@novell.slipkontur.de, tiwai@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- starting nm-applet --indicator in Xfce only works if xfce4-statusnotifier-plugin (which supports indicators) is in the panel. OTOH if only the older systray is being used, nm-applet does not properly fall back: icon is visible but context menu does not work making it unusable. xfce4-statusnotifier-plugin is part of the newer default Xfce installation in openSUSE however some users still rely on the older systray only. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The patch libappindicator-activate-support.patch breaks the context menu in the tray for some applications. After its appearance, the context menu broke in some applications, the applications running on the tray stopped responding to any actions altogether, not all desktop environments are played, Cinnamon and GNOME with any extension returning the tray were repeated, application examples remmina, discord, and a number of others, maybe there are other applications, after removing this patch, applications again start working as they should.
To be honest, it's not at all clear why the author of this patch cut out the whole part of the functional.
I looked at the changelog and the patch was created to "fix" this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libappindicator/+bug/1403449 Doesn't look like a confirmed bug to me and if you can confirm that it works without patch, please lets drop it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
