2.) Jirko, can we hide and disable the second-stage users-related stuff by default? Do the first stage dialogs work?
They do (AFAIK), but it does not mean that in second stage, nothing is done. The dialogs in second stage may not open but there actually _is_ some YaST code that does the real work. I'm not sure if the steps should be hidden when YaST is oding some work that may take some time. Note that if root and/or first user is not configured in the first stage, the dialogs for them are opened in the second stage, so at least in such case, the step list doesn't have a chance to be shortened. Such dialogs should be in the list of steps. Additionally, the state of feature 303396 is still not defined. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Reply to comment #4: I thought we've decided to write the settings at the end of the first stage in inst-finish (no additional root/users call should be needed in second stage by default).
I'm not so sure about this.
If needed, first-stage users should enable second-stage users dialogs (but only those which are needed).
Yes, only when needed, but the point is, that there's a possibility for them, so you can't count with the fact of reduced number of steps (in the user configuration area). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I'm not so sure about this.
OK, please, do it that way. There is no reason why users/root should be different to the rest of other non-interactive writing (bootloader, network, ntp-client, etc.). Moreover installation.changes contains this: ------------------------------------------------------------------- Thu Jan 31 15:02:56 CET 2008 - jsuchome@suse.cz - call users_finish.ycp from inst_finish.ycp (FATE #302980) ------------------------------------------------------------------- That's the non-interactive writing we need.
Yes, only when needed, but the point is, that there's a possibility for them, so you can't count with the fact of reduced number of steps (in the user configuration area).
list <string> ProductControl::DisabledModules currently contains (also) "root", "user", and "auth". To redraw steps, use WFM::call ("update_wizard_steps") YCP client call if you enable some of the disabled modules (by removing them from DisabledModules). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I'd rather see it decided in respective feature(s). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
