https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=724378 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=724378#c0 Summary: KPackageKit crashes when root password not entered for signed package Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Beta 1 Platform: i586 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: john.m.smith@attachmate.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer Blocker: --- (Note: I tried to submit this via the crash reporter, but got this error: "Sorry, entering a bug into the product kpackagekit has been disabled." So below is a copy and paste of the file created by the reporter.) Application: kpackagekitsmarticon (0.6.3.3) KDE Platform Version: 4.7.1 (4.7.1) Qt Version: 4.7.4 Operating System: Linux 3.1.0-rc7-3-default i686 Distribution: "openSUSE 12.1 Beta 1 (i586)" -- Information about the crash: - What I was doing when the application crashed: I downloaded the Chrome RPM and opened it. KPackageKit launched and I chose to [Install]. It then determined dependencies. I clicked [Continue] to approve additional changes. I was presented with "Authentication is required to install a signed package. ... Password for root:" After doing nothing for around 5 minutes, a new dialog pops up: "You have failed to provide correct authentication. Please check any passwords or account settings" I clicked [OK]. Then a dialog with only a red boxed X appeared with an OK button. I clicked [OK] and crash. -- Backtrace: Application: KPackageKit (kpackagekitsmarticon), signal: Segmentation fault [KCrash Handler] #7 QString (other=) at /usr/include/QtCore/qstring.h:728 #8 KpkTransaction::errorDetails (this=0x45454545) at /usr/src/debug/kpackagekit-0.6.3.3/libkpackagekit/KpkTransaction.cpp:695 #9 0x08066b33 in PkInstallPackageFiles::transactionFinished (this=0x8095100, status=KpkTransaction::Failed) at /usr/src/debug/kpackagekit-0.6.3.3/SmartIcon/PkInstallPackageFiles.cpp:237 #10 0x0805e1c0 in KpkAbstractTask::qt_metacall (this=0x8095100, _c=QMetaObject::InvokeMetaMethod, _id=<optimized out>, _a=0xbfde4098) at /usr/src/debug/kpackagekit-0.6.3.3/build/SmartIcon/KpkAbstractTask.moc:83 #11 0x080660c3 in PkInstallPackageFiles::qt_metacall (this=0x8095100, _c=QMetaObject::InvokeMetaMethod, _id=28, _a=0xbfde4098) at /usr/src/debug/kpackagekit-0.6.3.3/build/SmartIcon/PkInstallPackageFiles.moc:69 #12 0xb6f2d69d in QMetaObject::metacall(QObject*, QMetaObject::Call, int, void**) () from /usr/lib/libQtCore.so.4 #13 0xb6f3c5d0 in QMetaObject::activate(QObject*, QMetaObject const*, int, void**) () from /usr/lib/libQtCore.so.4 #14 0xb6da2875 in KpkTransaction::finished (this=0x8180958, _t1=KpkTransaction::Failed) at /usr/src/debug/kpackagekit-0.6.3.3/build/libkpackagekit/KpkTransaction.moc:128 #15 0xb6da28a6 in KpkTransaction::setExitStatus (this=0x8180958, status=KpkTransaction::Failed) at /usr/src/debug/kpackagekit-0.6.3.3/libkpackagekit/KpkTransaction.cpp:665 #16 0xb6da4cac in KpkTransaction::transactionFinished (this=0x8180958, status=PackageKit::Enum::ExitFailed) at /usr/src/debug/kpackagekit-0.6.3.3/libkpackagekit/KpkTransaction.cpp:620 #17 0xb6da564d in KpkTransaction::qt_metacall (this=0x8180958, _c=QMetaObject::InvokeMetaMethod, _id=2, _a=0xbfde42e4) at /usr/src/debug/kpackagekit-0.6.3.3/build/libkpackagekit/KpkTransaction.moc:108 #18 0xb6f2d69d in QMetaObject::metacall(QObject*, QMetaObject::Call, int, void**) () from /usr/lib/libQtCore.so.4 #19 0xb6f3c5d0 in QMetaObject::activate(QObject*, QMetaObject const*, int, void**) () from /usr/lib/libQtCore.so.4 #20 0xb70fac6d in PackageKit::Transaction::finished(PackageKit::Enum::Exit, unsigned int) () from /usr/lib/libpackagekit-qt.so.14 #21 0xb70f65a1 in PackageKit::ClientPrivate::serviceUnregistered() () from /usr/lib/libpackagekit-qt.so.14 #22 0xb70f6b01 in PackageKit::ClientPrivate::qt_metacall(QMetaObject::Call, int, void**) () from /usr/lib/libpackagekit-qt.so.14 #23 0xb6f2d69d in QMetaObject::metacall(QObject*, QMetaObject::Call, int, void**) () from /usr/lib/libQtCore.so.4 #24 0xb6f3c5d0 in QMetaObject::activate(QObject*, QMetaObject const*, int, void**) () from /usr/lib/libQtCore.so.4 #25 0xb70bf095 in QDBusServiceWatcher::serviceUnregistered(QString const&) () from /usr/lib/libQtDBus.so.4 #26 0xb70bf180 in ?? We made a late switch from KPackageKit to Apper. Please can you retest with Apper? It is in KDE:Distro:Factory in the OBS, add the openSUSE_Factory repo from there to your 12.1 RC1 and install apper, removing kpackagekit in the process, relogin and retest. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
