[Bug 226161] New: Cleaning up ftp.suse.com
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=226161 Summary: Cleaning up ftp.suse.com Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Action Items AssignedTo: draht@novell.com ReportedBy: rschiele@gmail.com QAContact: adrian@novell.com Now that 9.2 is out of support it might be the right time to do some cleanup on ftp.suse.com again to gain some space for 10.2. In my opinion the following directories are obsolete: out of support: /pub/suse/i386/9.2 /pub/suse/i386/update/9.2 /pub/suse/i386/live-cd-9.2 /pub/suse/x86_64/live-cd-9.2 really out of support: /pub/suse/i386/live-cd-9.1 /pub/suse/i386/live-eval-9.0 /pub/suse/x86_64/supplementary/9.0-PatchCD /pub/suse/i386/supplementary/9.1 /pub/suse/x86_64/supplementary/9.1 now in the build service (Why should we confuse people by keeping an out-of-date version on ftp.suse.com?): /pub/suse/i386/supplementary/GNOME /pub/suse/x86_64/supplementary/GNOME /pub/suse/i386/supplementary/X/Xorg -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=226161 ------- Comment #1 from rschiele@gmail.com 2007-02-14 12:39 MST ------- Anyone alive? You managed to clean up two of the mentioned 12 directories within more than two months after this bug was opened. Thus I guess we will need another year until we get rid of stuff like the _evaluation_ version of 9.0... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

perhaps we can clean it out more agressively ;)
Most of the mentioned directories were removed in the meantime. :-) But there are still some things to cleanup. The most interesting file I found was ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/9.0-PatchCD/README.txt (read yourself ;-)) In general all suppelementary/9.* directories can probably be deleted. Most other directories in supplementary/ contain a README pointing to the buildservice - I'm quite sure everybody knows this nowadays (the READMEs are about 2 years old), so maybe these directories can also be removed. Removing all empty directories and directories only containing very old READMEs (7.1-axp anyone?) might also be a good idea - this should be done in the whole /pub/ tree. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The remaining directories will most likely vanish, too. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
