[Bug 741223] New: documentation about boot messages is misleading
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=741223 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=741223#c0 Summary: documentation about boot messages is misleading Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Documentation AssignedTo: ke@suse.com ReportedBy: devel@fresse.org QAContact: ke@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:12.0a1) Gecko/20111226 Firefox/12.0a1 As I learnt in my bug 737554 systemd uses some of the kernel parameters, in particular `quiet', and changes behaviour based on whether or not they're specified. However, this contradicts previous behaviour and is documented as: To get debug from systemd, you can either : - remove quiet from kernel command line - increase systemd verbosity by adding systemd.log_target=kmsg systemd.log_level=debug to kernel command line. You can also add systemd.sysv_console=1 (0: disabled, 1: enabled) to display legacy SysV initscripts output on console. I've chosen number 2 and the bug has been closed as invalid, so either the bug closer is wrong or the documentation is wrong. Reproducible: Always -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
