Wireless chip is a Broadcom, identified as Dell wireless 1390. BCM43xx does not work correctly with, so ndiswrapper is loaded. When connecting to a wep secured AP, wpa-supplicant works correctly and will connect. Trying to connect to an open public AP, wpa-supplicant times out and fails to connect. If you then run as su dhcpcd eth0, then a connection to the AP is created and wireless is available and works. This also affects OpenSuSE 10.2. The cells are identified and broadcast from the AP. However, iwlist does not show the eesid names. The same issue occurred while I was on the road.
