[Bug 1191719] New: traceroute not showing hosts
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1191719 Bug ID: 1191719 Summary: traceroute not showing hosts Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: 32bit OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Network Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: suseino@riseup.net QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 853177 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=853177&action=edit traceroute output + software version info After upgrading Tumbleweed (32-bit) from 20210810-1102.1 to 20210926-1190.1 traceroute stopped showing hop hosts (names or IP addresses) in its output. It shows only times and asterisks. Only the target host is shown (if reached) but that is not of much help, as the route itself is the important info. I am marking this major because traceroute is an essential networking tool without which one cannot possibly diagnose certain problems. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

An asterisk is shown when a timeout has been reached..
That is clear but it is not the actual issue which is reported here. Here is the requested strace output: https://susepaste.org/0168e74a For privacy reasons I have replaced the individual visible Internet IP addresses with "IP_ADDRESS_n" (where n is from 1 to 6), except for 192.168.x.x (the LAN addresses).
Output without the "-n" is similar.

For a major bug like this one this is quite disturbing. Latest info: Upgrading the system to 20211126-1296.1 does not fix the issue. The same situation remains, regardless of the many libraries updated many times since the time of the initial report. https://susepaste.org/7fb890fd -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
