It gives me errors about ~/serverauth not existing when I try to manually run startx. I had to switch the /etc/sysconfig DISPLAYMANAGER setting to "xdm" to be able to login to KDE. Inside the /usr/share/kde4/config/kdm/kdmrc the AuthDir is pointing to a directory where the user kdm has no access. At this moment the fix is almost finished building and I can only hope that publishing will be fast. At this moment the fix is almost finished building and I can only hope that publishing will be fast.
So the hope is that within the next 30 minutes the repo's are published. I just had a look at the spec file and AuthDir is now set to /var/log/kdm/AuthFiles/ in kdmrc. /var/log/kdm/ doesn't even exist. Wasn't this supposed to be /var/lib/kdm/AuthFiles/?

Only in the case that the user leaves the string as commented (with #) in front of it, then what you can describe can happen. I build locally another version and it seems that with the following is working (as you indicated): sed -i -e "s/^#AuthDir=.*/AuthDir=\/var\/lib\/kdm\/AuthFiles/" %{_kde4_configdir}/kdm/kdmrc At least I updated kdm a couple of times and I kept the correct line. Have pushed this one now to both KDF and KR410. The new packages with the changed default value work fine here as well. I have this now in kdmrc: # Where to store authorization files. # Default is "/var/lib/kdm/AuthFiles/" #AuthDir=/var/lib/kdm/AuthFiles ... GreeterUID=kdm And kdm_greet starts up fine as user "kdm".
