Michael, in 341007 you wrote that it works for you... so what is the difference between broken and working kernel?
Sorry if I'm not being sufficiently clear in the report. Here's the breakdown. Using the 2.6.22.5-31 package without nohz=off processor.max_cstate=1 set: computer can hibernate, but after waking up, it's sluggish, as described in bug #341007. Using the 2.6.22.5-31 package with nohz=off processor.max_cstate=1 set: everything works perfectly as far as I can tell. Using the 2.6.22.13-0.3 package (from the updates testing channel) without nohz=off processor.max_cstate=1 set: computer can hibernate, but after waking up, it's sluggish, as described in bug #341007. Using the 2.6.22.13-0.3 package (from the updates testing channel) with nohz=off processor.max_cstate=1 set: computer can't hibernate. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=345117#c5 --- Comment #5 from Michael Wolf <maw@novell.com> 2007-11-30 17:32:50 MST --- With just nohz=off suspending works and the system isn't sluggish after waking up. Also in case it's relevant: I'm using the kernel-bigsmp package. Sorry for forgetting to mention that. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Trenn, did you change anything around pstate handling between those two versions? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Or P-state as possibly TSC might be involvded? There was the change: only use C1 while suspending and resuming (AFAIK this still went into GM?). Michael, can you get the date of the latest changes in the kernel, pls (hmm, I hope 2.6.22.5 is still installed?): rpm -qa |grep kernel (there should be a 2.6.22.13 and 2.6.22.5 kernel version?) Then do: rpm -q --changelog kernel-xy-2.6.22.13 |head -n10 and rpm -q --changelog kernel-xy-2.6.22.5 |head -n10 and post both. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
